Expanding Awareness,
A pathway to peace,
Escaping the confines of the mind,
A profound pressure release.
Attention, it flows,
Deep into the mind,
Or far out into the world,
Leaving the past far behind.
What does it mean to be aware,
Feeling your way through life,
Trusting the wisdom of your gut,
Evading trouble and strife.
It requires discipline and effort
To re-awaken this skill,
To step away from the hustle,
And coach the mind to be still.
See we are born with awareness,
See a baby’s unfiltered gaze,
Just observing the world,
Fully experiencing life’s ways.
But they sent us to school,
Taught us to calculate and think,
Gave us problems to ponder,
As our awareness did shrink.
Soon we lose our way,
Lost in a troubled and worried mind,
Struggling through our life,
Our awareness gone blind.
Sometimes a teacher will arrive,
Amid the struggles of our way,
But the student is not yet ready,
It’s just the wrong time, not today.
But what does this life mean,
Is it measured in a volume of cash,
Where we sacrifice our souls,
In our quest for a bigger stash.
But there is always an urging,
Down deep in our gut,
Some part of us recalls it,
An eternal solution to our rut.
We must learn about our attention,
And the influence of our will,
What are the forces that prevent us,
From stopping to remain still?
A yearning for money,
Is not a quest for peace,
It’s a struggle for some relief,
But this quest will never cease.
See we are who we were,
On the day that we were born,
But Life gave us costumes,
That brought both praise and scorn.
There is always a pathway,
Back to the serenity of the soul,
But it takes a new priority,
A new and exciting goal.
See growing old is mandatory,
But becoming wise is a choice,
But it takes some courage,
To give your soul back its voice.
You can take up the work,
On this very day,
Take a moment to go inward,
And find a new way.
True Spiritual Growth,
Is not more data for the mind,
But the gentle awaking of the soul,
Where untapped wealth you will find.
So stop for a moment,
Direct your attention for a while,
You may detect a subtle witness,
Watching your mind with a smile.
If you practice this daily,
Give this practice priority,
Slowly you will see your mind,
Losing its authority.
As you progress in your practice,
Begin being a watcher in life,
Flowing your attention into the world,
Your senses becoming sharp like a knife.
If you would like a great road map,
To guide you on your way,
There is a great book,
That can guide you in your day.
The greatest book I’ve read,
“The Avatar Path: The Way We Came”
Penned by Harry Palmer,
Opens the door to a new game.
So, when you are done,
With this trouble and mess,
When you are ready to live life,
Without all the drama and stress.
When you want to become,
So still, peaceful, playful and fun,
Calm in life’s storms,
And radiating like a human sun.
Pick up this book,
And start a new quest,
You won’t believe what you can create,
When you finally discover your best.
You are not here to struggle,
Or to worry and fret,
You are here to live your life,
Free of regret and emotional debt.
I wish you peace
As you travel your life’s road,
I hope you find what I have,
So, you can put down your load.
Amen!
