I feel like a lot of what you’re talking about here comes from approval/disapproval, good/bad boy type thinking. I see it a lot in the corporate world. People adopt woke beliefs without thinking that much about them (eg carbon in atmosphere) because they get a hit of approval and avoid disapproval. Then they can give off a virtue signal somewhere, like on social media, and get even more. It leads to group think and probably a loss of the healthy masculinity you’ve been describing.

Amen Sean. I reckon you couldn't be more accurate on that. That sheep like desire to just fit in and be accepted is super powerful. It take a lot to stand on your own values because these days you don't just get disagreement, or some disapproval, you get cancelled. So sad really. I guess my exploration was about where it came from, how it arose, and what I feel you are describing is how it has become cemented in.

That’s a great distinction about the way “woke” gets used. Very insightful. The “should” version has no effort to see things as they are and efforts are concerned about getting people to believe what they have been indoctrinated to believe.
